Dorothy M. Anderson, age 88, of Storm Lake, passed away Friday, August 29, 2003, at the Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.

Dorothy Margaret Anderson, daughter of Clara and Earl Mandernach, was born on a farm north of Storm Lake on August 17, 1915. She graduated from Truesdale High School in 1932 as Valedictorian and attended Buena Vista College for two years taking pre-nursing courses. She then entered the Methodist Hospital, School of Nursing, in Sioux City and received her R.N. degree in 1937. Later that fall, she went to Chicago, Illinois, where she worked at Presbyterian Hospital for several years and then for a private physician in Chicago. Dorothy retired from nursing in the early 1960s and returned to Storm Lake in 1963.

On March 16, 1957, Dorothy married Russell G. Anderson, of Gary, Indiana, formerly of Linn Grove. She was a member of the United Methodist Church since she was a child. Dorothy's life was dedicated to the care of others.

Preceding Dorothy in death were her parents; her husband, Russell; and two brothers, LaVerne, who died in infancy, and Raymond, who died in 1993.

She is survived by one brother, Earl J. Mandernach, of Battle Creek; one step-daughter, Patricia Spears, of Florida; one sister-in-law, Irene Mandernach, of Storm Lake; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake with Reverend Jamie Cutler officiating. Burial was in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Sliefert ~ Asmus Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
