Robert Duane Witter, 76, of Clive, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2010.

Robert was born on January 15, 1934, in Newell, Iowa, to Charlotte (Zemke) and Ed W. Witter. He graduated from Newell High School and worked as a truck driver and truck mechanic until retiring in 1989. He lived most recently in Clive, Iowa but had also lived in Missouri. He married Caroline on February 5, 1976, and they had many happy years together until her death in 1999.

He had many hobbies including reading western novels, watching auto racing, the Chicago Cubs and the Hawkeyes, but his favorite was listening to the police scanner.

Robert will be greatly missed by his family: his step-daughters, Sue (Steve) Artwein and Doreen (Brad) Puchta; his step-son, Rick (Kathy) Stammer; his brother, Charles; 11 step-grandchildren and 19 great-step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Caroline, his parents and a brother.

Services will be at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, Iowa, with visitation on Thursday, November, 18, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. and the funeral on Friday, November 19, 2010, at 11 a.m.
