Reverend E. D. "Mike" Pappadackis, age 72, Sioux City, formerly of Storm Lake, was born in Sioux City on August 4, 1930, the son of Dematrious E. and Irene (Volicos) Pappadackis. The family moved to Storm Lake when he was a child. He graduated from Storm Lake High School and in 1952, from Buena Vista College. In 1955, he graduated from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago with a Master of Divinity degree. He married Jean Elizabeth Mowatt on August 6, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois.

He was a member of the Prospect Hill Presbytery, the Third Presbyterian Church, and the Men's Club. Moreover, he sang in the church choir when he was the minister there. He was the Presbyterian Minister at Wilmont and Lismore Minnesota, at Rockwell City, and at the Third Presbyterian Church in Sioux City.

After 27 years, he retired from the Third Presbyterian Church in 1996. Upon his retirement, he was honored with the title of Pastor Emeritus of the Third Presbyterian Church. He served as pulpit supply and moderator for many Presbyterian Churches in Iowa and Nebraska. He was in the Air Guard for 12 years in the 1970s and 1980s. He received the John Fisher Distinguished Services Award in 1981 from Buena Vista College. He also served as Chaplain of the Women's Reformatory in Rockwell City.

Reverend Pappadackis was also a member of the Morningside Masonic Lodge number 615 AFAM, the Scottish Rite, and the Abu Bekr Shrine Temple. He also served as Chaplain several times at the Abu Bekr Shrine and the Sahib Unit.

His hobbies included golf and cribbage.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Elizabeth, Sioux City; one daughter, Andrea and David Kjos of Sioux City; one son, Mark and Cheryl Pappedackis of Sgt. Bluff. Also surviving him are three grandchildren: Christopher, Stephanie, and Paige Pappadackis; one step grandchild, Brooke Riley; one brother, Gus D. and Mary Pappas, of Tuscon, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George Pappas.

Funeral services for Reverend Pappadackis were held on Wednesday, January 22, 2003, at the Third Presbyterian Church in Sioux City with Reverend William Skinner and Reverend Stephen Niles officiating. Burial was in Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City.
