Milton "Bud" Colvin, age 79, of Newell, Iowa, died September 16, 2010, at his home in Newell.

Milton V. Colvin was born on March 18, 1931, in Milford, Iowa, the son of Cy and Lou (Wilson) Colvin. Growing up, Milton attended grade school at Milford and later graduated from Milford High School in 1949.

Following graduation, on September 11, 1950, Milton enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country during the Korean Conflict. After nine months in Germany at the end if his tour, he was honorably discharged on June 5, 1952.

Milton settled back in Iowa and started working at the Creamery in Clarence and raising a family. A mechanic by trade, Milton worked on trucks most of his career with many years at Bixler Trucking Co. in Clarence, Iowa, and with Consumers Supply in Storm Lake. He later helped his sister at the Dream World skating rink in Spencer.

On December 22, 1978, Milton was united in marriage to Lois Payton in Clarence, IA.

Milton was a member of the Newell American Legion. He had a passion for race cars and was instrumental in getting the Jackson Speedway in Jackson, Minnesota, started. He also enjoyed working on cars. Milton loved going to auctions and collecting water pitchers and eagles. He treasured his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 32 years Lois of Newell; his children Sharon (Don) Stewart of Clarence; Linda (Gene) Horman of Tipton, IA; Micheal (Lisa) Colvin of Lowden, IA; Diane Notingham of Cedar Rapids, IA; Dwight Davis of Indianapolis, IN; Bernita (Marvin) Hartman of Storm Lake; Jerry (Debbie) Davis of Smyrna, TN; Paula (Shane) Bulten of Radcliffe, IA; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sisters Joyce Grimm of Okoboji, IA, and Willa Jean Dobson of Milford; sister-in-law Julia Colvin of Duncan, OK; brothers-in-law Marion Payton of Anamosa, IA, and Louis (Anna) Payton of Savannah, MO.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gary Colvin, and a brother Jon Colvin.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. September 18, 2010, at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
Interment: September 18, 2010, at Milford Cemetery in Milford, Iowa
