Phyllis Lucht, age 86, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Sunday, August 29, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family.
Phyllis Marie Quail was born on October 25, 1923, in Sac City, Iowa, the daughter of Vernon and Mabel (Schadle) Quail. Growing up, she attended school in Sac City where she won the Spelling Bee in eighth grade.
On June 29, 1943, Phyllis was united in marriage to Maynard K. Lucht in Dakota City, Nebraska. Together they were blessed with four children: Mary, Janette, Russell and Larry.
Phyllis was a member of the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell, Iowa. She enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, and being a farm wife. Her favorite pastimes included listening to the Gaither Vocal Band and reading romance novels by Betty Neels. Phyllis loved completing puzzles and word searches. She treasured spending time with her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Mary Ward of Newell, Iowa; Janette (Bud) Watts of Spencer, Iowa; Russell (Becky) Lucht of Larrabee, Iowa; Larry (Barbara) Lucht of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: William R. (Cindy) Ward; Ron (Treva) Ward; Michelle (Tim) Kuiper; Marc Watts; Roxey (Chris) Samsel; Rhonda (Mik) Westeen; Heather Lucht (Jose Palmerin); April Lucht; Gregory Lucht; four step grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; extended family and many friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Mabel; her husband, Maynard; son-in-law, Andy Ward; and one grandson, Richard Ward.
Visitation: 6-8:00 p.m. August 31, 2010, at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
