Francis Parris - Feb. 21, 1911 - Apr. 8, 2002

Francis Parris, 91, of Storm Lake, died Monday, April 8, 2002, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.

Francis James Parris was born February 21, 1911, the son of John and Ina (Campbell) Parris, in Winamac, Indiana. The family moved to Iowa when he was 2 years old. He attended school in Laurens and graduated from the Laurens High School in 1931.

On March 30, 1941, Francis married Cleora Hansen. To this union three children were born, Albert, Loris and Elaine.

On January 21, 1943, he entered the United States Army during WWII. He served as a Staff Sergeant until his discharge on December 1, 1945. After being discharged, he farmed west of Rembrandt until his retirement. On April 1, 1981, he and Cleora moved to Storm Lake.

Francis was an active member of the Center Grove Evangelical Free Church, and later, the Hope Evangelical Free Church in Storm Lake. He and Cleora spent nineteen winters in Bradenton, FL. They enjoyed traveling and visited many interesting places. Francis had been a resident of the Newell Good Samaritan Center for two years following a stroke.

Preceding Francis in death were his parents; two brothers, Butler Parris and Bill Parris; and two sisters, Doris Siddall and Janet Bulling.

Survivors include his wife, Cleora; one son, Albert and his wife Leanne Parris, of Fort Dodge; two daughters, Loris and her husband Leroy Pfaltsgraff of Carbondale, IL., and Elaine and her husband Nick Pauly of Ankeny; five grandchildren, Diane and her husband Jim Honkomp, John Pauly, and Brian Pauly; four great-grandsons, Alex, Tyler, Grant Braun and Jed Wyse. Also surviving are two sisters, Adalyn Meredith of Huxley and Mary Siddall of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; and two brothers-in-law, Lowell Hansen and his wife Kathy of Alta, and Edwin Hansen and his wife Marvis of Storm Lake, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Francis Parris will be Saturday, April 13, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the Hope Evangelical Free Church in Storm Lake with pastor Jim Hofman officiating.

Burial will be in the Buena Vista memorial Park Cemetery, Storm Lake. Visitation will be Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
