Opal Dubois - Feb. 13, 1908 - Mar. 15, 2002

Opal F. Dubois, 94, of Sioux Rapids, died Friday, March 15, 2002, at the Pocahontas Manor Care Center.

Opal Fern Donaldson was born February 13, 1908, the daughter of William and Mary (Olney) Donaldson near Marathon. She attended the Marathon and Garfield schools.

She was united in marriage to Sherwin Dubois. To this union eight children were born. They farmed near Sioux Rapids and Cornell. She worked at the Dickinson County Home for a few years. Opal was a member of the Highway 71 Birthday Club and the Trail Riders. She enjoyed camping and spending winters in Texas.

Survivors include six children, Robert and his wife Margie Dubois of Askov, MN.; Norma and her husband John Nickelson of Worthington, MN.; William and his wife Bjorg Dubois of Neosho, MO.; Jon and his wife Beverly Dubois of Lorimor; Kenneth and his wife JoAnn Dubois of Sioux Rapids; Gordon and his wife Linda Dubois of New Orleans, LA. Also surviving are grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two sons-in-law, William Shaffer of Baker City, OR, and Jerry Robinson of Spirit Lake; three sisters-in-law, Edith Donaldson and Mayda Donaldson both of Spencer, and Phyllis and her husband Kenneth Ingram of Storm Lake; and one brother-in-law, Glen Graeber of Des Moines, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Preceding Opal in death were her parents; her husband Sherwin on June 19, 1978; two daughters, Fern Shaffer and Anita Robinson; one grandson, Scott Dubois; two infant grandchildren; three brothers, Glen, Clarence, and Floyd Donaldson; and five sisters, an infant sister Violet, Blanche Tutt, Gladys Wright, Marie Morris, and Mildred Morris.

Funeral Services for Opal Dubois were held Monday, March 18, 2002, at the First United Church in Sioux Rapids with Pastor Emily Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Fanny Fern Cemetery.
