Michael Lawrence Wolf of Alta passed away on February 13, 2002, in Sibley, at the age of 24 years, 5 months, and 17 days.

Michael Lawrence Wolf was born on August 27, 1977, in Rapid City, South Dakota. He grew up in Newell, South Dakota, where he received his schooling until the tenth grade. In 1995, he moved to Alta, and graduated from Alta Community High School in 1997. He then went on to attend Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon where he studied Auto Mechanics and graduated in August, 1999.

On May 21, 1999, Mike married Anitra Aberson in Orange City. While there, Mike was employed at Maintainer in Sheldon. The couple made their home in Orange City until 2001 when they moved to an acreage south of Harris. Mike became an employee at Collision Masters, an auto body shop, and worked there for three months. He then quit his job to learn the joys of farming and did automotive work from his garage.

Michael regularly attended Summit Evangelical Free Church in Alta. He enjoyed fishing, flying remote control airplanes, and tinkering with cars. He especially enjoyed spending time with those he loved and helping people in need.

Michael is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Selmar Swenby and W.W. Welke.

He is survived by his wife, Anitra, of Harris; his parents, David and Tracy Swenby; two brothers, Tony and Jeremy Swenby; one sister, Christy Swenby; one niece Destiny Swenby; one nephew, Damion Swenby, all of Newell, South Dakota; his mother- and father-in-law, Deb and Ken Aberson of Alta; two brother-in-laws, Ben Aberson, Alta, and Nick Aberson, Fort Dodge; his grandmothers, Darlene Welke of Spearfish, South Dakota, and Lorraine Swenby of Gillette, Wyoming; his grandfather, Ed Wolf, of Beulah, Wyoming; his grandmother-in-law, Ethel Aberson of Orange City; his grandparents-in-law; Bud and Wanda Kuiken of Maurice; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Michael were held Monday, February 18, 2002, at Hope Evangelical Free Church, Storm Lake, with Pastor Michael Scolare officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Alta.

The Barker Funeral Home, Alta, was in charge of arrangements.
