Thomas E. Frederiksen, age 82, of Storm Lake, died Sunday, January 27, 2002, at the Methodist Manor Care Center in Storm Lake following a lengthy illness.

Thomas Eugene Frederiksen was born November 5, 1919, in Newell, the son of Thorvald and Inger (Jensen) Frederiksen. He graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1937. After graduation he worked for the Storm Lake Register & Pilot Tribune newspapers until enlisting in the United States Navy.

He served 54 months during World War II with the Navy Communications Division, primarily in the China area. Following his discharge, he returned to Storm Lake to work for the newspapers until he was recalled to serve during the Korean War.

Upon his return, he spent several more years in the newspaper business before establishing his own business, the T-F Restaurant, on East Lakeshore Drive in Storm Lake. He retired from the restaurant in 1975.

Tom enjoyed working with young people and spent several years managing Little League baseball teams in Storm Lake. He loved watching his grandchildren grow and seeing their many accomplishments. Gardening was his hobby, and he liked having morning coffee and playing pinochle with his friends.

He served many years as chairman of the Buena Vista County Veteran Affairs office and was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church.

Tom was united in marriage to Ferne Willemssen on March 9, 1947, in the Presbyterian Church at Alta. To this union two sons were born.

He is survived by his wife Ferne, Storm Lake; two sons, Steven and his wife, Rosemary Frederiksen, Cedar Rapids, and Tim and his wife, Deb Frederiksen, Storm Lake; two beloved grandchildren, Lindsey Kay and Ross Thomas Frederiksen of Storm Lake. Also surviving is a daughter, Linda Annacchino and her husband, Tony, Baldwinsville, NY; a sister, Oda Eriksen, Phoenix, AZ; and a host of other extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Leona Simeno, Nadine Anderson and Elsa Hendershott; and by two brothers, Homer and Robert.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 30th, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeside Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Duane Queen officiating.

There will be no visitation. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

A memorial fund has been established. Private family burial services will be held in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery.
