Mary Hansen, 104, of Storm Lake, died Saturday, December 1, 2001, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center.
Mary Neumann was born November 5, 1897, the daughter of Hiram and Elizabeth (Hartman) in Crescent City, Illinois. She lived during three centuries and two millenniums.
While growing up she lived in Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa. On November 12, 1916, Mary married Carl P. Hansen in Arco, Minnesota. Mary was a member of the Church of Christ where she enjoyed Bible study classes. She also liked to quilt, crochet, and do embroidery.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents, her husband Carl; one son Francis Hansen; two sons-in-law, Rollie Nixon and Laurence Borrink; one granddaughter, Sheryl Bahrke; three brothers, John, George, and Leslie; and four sisters, Julia, Grace, Aurine and Emma.
Survivors include her four daughters, Doris and husband, Charles Christie, of Ida Grove, Thelma Borrink of Sioux City, Joan and husband, Arthur Shugar, of Storm Lake, and LaVonne Bahrke and husband, Bill, of Neola, 19 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 19 great great grandchildren, three great great great grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mary Hansen will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2001, at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake with Reverend Jack Barber and Reverend Vernon Huffey officiating.
Interment will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery, Storm Lake. Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. with the family being present at the Sliefert Redig Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
