Eva Tevepaugh - June 13, 1917 - May 14, 2008
Eva Ruth Tevepaugh, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Buena Vista Manor Care Center in Storm Lake.
Eva was born June 13, 1917, in Maryville, Missouri, the daughter of LeRoy and Alverta (Barton) Houdeshell. She was baptized into the Christian faith in the Methodist Church where she later confirmed her faith as a youth. She received her education in the Varina Community School and graduated from Varina High School with the Class of 1935.
On November 20, 1937, Eva was united in marriage to Robert Tevepaugh in the Lake City Presbyterian Church in Lake City, Iowa. The couple was blessed with four children: Duretta, Clarice, Max and Patricia.
Eva was an active, lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, most recently at the church in Storm Lake. She was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was a very involved member of Rebekah Lodge in Storm Lake and Varina, and she held several positions in that organization. She was also a member of United Commercial Travelers of America and served as Past Grand Counselor of the Ladies’ Auxiliary. Eva enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as reading, playing cards and doing puzzles. While she worked at the Ben Franklin in Storm Lake, she was known as the “Candy Lady.” She worked at Hoffman’s Flower and Candle Shop in Storm Lake and liked arranging floral displays. She and her husband, Robert, traveled throughout the United States visiting friends and family and seeing the sights. Eva’s family was always her first love and she treasured the time she spent with them. Her kind and caring ways will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Clare Sauter of Storm Lake; her son, Max Tevepaugh, of Santa Ana, California; her daughter, Pat (Terry) Ryan of Cathedral City, California; grandchildren: Ellen (Rich) Boesel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Steve (Darci) Sauter of Alta, Iowa; Jeff (Patricia) Sauter of Arnolds Park, Iowa; Brad (friend Marjie) Sauter of Milford, Iowa; Melanie (Gary) Riggs of Lincoln, Nebraska; Greg (Krystal) Sauter of Jackson, Minnesota; and Corie (Sue) Ryan of Corona, California; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Marie Wenck of Lidderdale, Iowa; Darlene Wenck of Winterset, Iowa; and Anna Jean Lake of Sac City, Iowa; brother-in-law Harold (Doretta) Tevepaugh of Lake City, Iowa; extended family and friends.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her daughter, Duretta Quail; son-in-law, Lloyd Sauter; granddaughter-in-law Lisa Sauter; two sisters: Vera Jackson and Genevieve Adams; and five brothers-in-law.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tevepaugh are scheduled for Friday, May 16, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Coon Township Cemetery in Varina, Iowa. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call Thursday, May 15, 2008, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present.
