Lillian Otto, 83, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the Buena Vista County Hospital.
Lillian Lucille was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Ida County, the daughter of Ernest J. and Emma (Hanson) Lohff. She lived with her parents and family in the eastern part of Iowa and completed her education in Des Moines.
On Aug. 23, 1936, she married Ralph Otto in Storm Lake. To this union two daughters, Jean and Jaque, were born. She farmed with her husband on a farm east of town until their retirement in 1991. When they retired from farming, the Otto's moved to Storm Lake.
She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Hanover. Her hobbies included fishing and gardening.
Mrs. Otto was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ralph in 1995; one daughter Jean and one brother.
She is survived by one daughter Jaque and her husband George Frayer of North Little Rock, Ark.; one brother Ernest Lohff of Pennsylvania; three sisters: Lorraine Oien of Bettendorf, Diane Negus of Primghar and Leona Haye of Sibley; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Otto were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake with Pastor Douglas Haynes officiating.
Pallbearers were Larry Otto, Marlin Freidrich, Darrell Hinkeldey, Frank Klahs, Mike Gessner and Ron Bue. Burial was in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Sliefert Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
