Obituary from the Storm Lake Tribune newspaper dated Saturday, June 5, 1886:

Mr. S. P. Langdon died at the residence of his son, B. F. Langdon, last Saturday, age 72 years 4 months. He had long been subject to heart disease, but was in general good health until a few days before his death, when he was taken away by some local complaint. He was born in Massachusetts, and until he moved to his county 13 years ago, had resided in almost every state from Massachusetts to Iowa. He was an honorable and highly respected citizen. He was buried at Storm Lake last Monday. His wife, who survives him, is nearly 70 years old. There are five children in the family: E. J. Langdon of Richland County, Wisconsin; J. K. Langdon of Gage County, Nebraska; B. F. Langdon and Mrs. Nettie Blount of this county; and Mrs. James Smethurst of Grant County, Wisconsin, all of whom were present at the funeral, the first time the family has been together in fifteen years.
