Harry Radke, 80, of Storm Lake, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, in Storm Lake.
Harry Friedrich Carl, the son of William and Lena (Hustedt) Radke, was born Sept. 19, 1920, at Diamond Township in Cherokee County. He received his education from St. John's Lutheran School in rural Alta.
He was a life long Lutheran, being baptized on Sept. 26, 1920, and was later confirmed on March 25, 1934, both at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Alta. He later became a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake.
On March 10, 1946, he was united in marriage to Marcella Sievers at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. Mr. Radke farmed in the Hanover area until his retirement in November of 1983. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Storm Lake.
Mr. Radke was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Art Radke and an infant sister Florence Radke.
He is survived by his wife Marcella Radke of Storm Lake; one daughter Joan Radke of Storm Lake; two brothers: Edgar and his wife Lavonne Radke and Marvin and his wife Dorothy Radke, both of Alta; two sisters: Verna Sump of Storm Lake and Lorene Schuelke of Alta; four sisters-in-law: Ruth Radke of Alta, Evelyn Nehring, Dorthey Sievers and Doris Sievers, all of Storm Lake; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Radke were held Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Pastor Steve Schultz officiated at the 1:30 p.m. service.
Pallbearers were Wayne Sump, Dean Radke, David Radke, Lyle Letsche, Terry Letsche and Todd Letsche. Burial was in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. Sliefert Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
