Elva Wiersma - Aug. 19, 1916 - Oct. 21, 2000

Elva Wiersma, 84, of Storm Lake, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center in Newell.

Elva V., the daughter of Alma and Philip Davis, was born Aug. 19, 1916, in Ware.

She retired from Ressler Drug where she was employed by Bob and Dorothy Ohrlund as a bookkeeper. Previously, she was credit manager for Montgomery Wards.

Mrs. Wiersma was a member of the First Baptist Church and Women's Circle in Storm Lake. She and her husband, Don, were members of the Serpaci Car Club. They thoroughly enjoyed their lake home with their wonderful neighbors.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Davis, of Spencer; her parents, Alma and Philip Davis, of Laurens and her grandparents, Ida and Lou Stover, of Laurens.

Mrs. Wiersma is survived by her husband Donald, one brother Earl and his wife Florence Davis of Laurens; one sister-in-law Dorothy Davis of Spencer; one son and his wife: Geran and Brenda Dodson of Loganville, Ga.; four daughters: Janet Wiersma of Mission, Kan., Janice and Jim Ungerman of Bloomington, Minn., Daryls and Don Plaisance of Storm Lake and Glenda and Randy Gerard of Lenexa, Kan.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wiersma were held Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at the First Baptist Church in Storm Lake. Rev. Tom Hinshaw officiated at the 2:30 p.m. service.

Pallbearers were John Plaisance, Timothy Ungerman, Thomas Ungerman, Chris Bowers, Patrick Dodson, Conrad Calsbeck and Dennis Wiersma.

Honorary pallbearers were Richard Davis, Mark Prevo, Larry Davis, Todd Waterman, Charlie Vail, Brad Calsbeck, Mike Brown, Keith Hall and Christopher Dodson.

Burial was at Storm Lake Cemetery. Sliefert Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
