John A. Gibbs - July 20, 1925 - Aug. 29, 2008

John A. Gibbs, age 83, of Alta, Iowa, died on Friday, August 29, 2008, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center at Storm Lake, Iowa.

John Alfred Gibbs, the son of Francis Gibbs, was born in New Hampshire on July 20, 1925. He was proud to have served his country in the United States military service.

John resided at Williamsburg, Ohio, for 30 years where he was employed as a truck driver and also as a mechanic. He then lived with his step-son for four years in Goshen, Ohio, and the last four years of his life have been spent in Alta.

He is survived by his step-son, Donnie Campbell of Goshen, Ohio; a step-grandson, Stanley Molott of Middletown, Ohio; a nephew, Dallas Comberger of Williamsburg, Ohio; and the many friends he had made throughout his lifetime.

John was preceded in death by his mother.

The legacy of John’s life was that he was a very giving and generous man who had a “heart as big as the world.”

Mr. Gibbs requested that his body be cremated. Graveside services for Mr. Gibbs were held on Friday, September 5, 2008, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. There were no other public services. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
