Evelyn M. Sanderman, age 96, of Schaller, Iowa, died Monday, February 19, 2007, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Evelyn Marie Langner was born January 15, 1911, to William and Minnie (Heintz) Langner in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on January 21, 1911, at St. John Lutheran in Hanover (rural Alta, Iowa), and confirmed her faith as a youth in that same church on June 17, 1925. She was educated at country school and also attended two years of school in Storm Lake.
On February 19, 1930, Evelyn was united in marriage to Howard Sanderman in Storm Lake. The couple was blessed with three sons: Dale, Donn, and Ronald. The couple lived 14 years on a farm near Early, Iowa. In 1944, they moved to a farm north of Schaller, where they lived until 1975 when they moved into Schaller. Evelyn and Howard were happily married for 58 years. Howard died in March of 1988.
Evelyn loved the Lord and was happy to serve Him through her lifelong membership in the Lutheran Church. She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran in Schaller for many years and also belonged to Ladies Aid. Evelyn and Howard enjoyed visiting with their friends, going to dances, and going fishing together. Her family was her first priority and she treasured every moment she spent with them. She will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her son Dale (Patti) Sanderman of Phoenix, Arizona; son Donn (Desney) Sanderman of Des Moines, Iowa; son Ronald (Nancy) Sanderman of Schaller, Iowa; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Ruth Langner of Storm Lake; nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; two brothers: Gerald Langner and Lyle Langner; and one sister-in-law, Opal Langner.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Sanderman will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2007, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller. Burial will follow at the Schaller Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to service time.
