Oscar Peters - May 19, 1917 - Apr. 11, 2007

Oscar Peters, age 89, of Badger, Iowa, died on April 11, 2007, at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.

Oscar Fred John Peters was born May 19, 1917, in Alta, Iowa, to John and Anna (Siegmund) Peters. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in rural Hanover. Oscar received his education through the eighth grade in a rural country school.

On February 9, 1941, Oscar was united in marriage to Evelyn Catherine Boettcher in Storm Lake, Iowa, by Rev. H.P. Schmidt. This union was blessed with two daughters: Diane Louise and Susan Kay.

Oscar was active in the agricultural field and spent many years making his living as a farmer. In addition, he worked at the seed plant and elevator. In his later years, Oscar mowed for Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.

He loved spending time with his family and found much enjoyment traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada, where his daughter lived. Oscar collected golf balls and baked delicious chocolate chip cookies. He always had a special stash of snickers candy bars available for his grandkids. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Susan Allen, of Eagle Grove, Iowa; three grandchildren: Dawn Louise Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada, Melanie Lynn Anderson and Jennifer Louise Allen, both of Chariton; five great-grandchildren; two sisters: Ella Dandy of Schaller, Iowa, and Ruth Langner of Storm Lake; extended family and a host of friends.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn; his daughter, Diane Davis; his four brothers: Chris, Henry, Carl and Walter; and his five sisters: Dorothy Smith, Clara McConkey, Betty Hartjes, Hildagarde Haxby and Magdalene Haxby.
