Evelyn Parker - Feb. 20, 1941 - Apr. 12, 2007
Evelyn “Evie” Parker, age 66, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, on Thursday April 12, 2007.
Evelyn was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on February 20, 1941. Evelyn went to school in New Hampton, Iowa. After graduating in 1959, Evelyn then went to Iowa City to work as a secretary. She married Frank Parker on December 8, 1975.
Evelyn was a professional secretary for 40 years. She worked for various businesses including medical, social security and funeral home offices. Evelyn's hobbies include baking, needle point, sewing, gardening and reading. Evelyn will be remembered most for the love of her family and friends and her wonderful cooking, sense of humor and her great story telling at family gatherings and playing Yahtzee and cards with her grandsons.
She is survived by her husband Frank; daughter Molly Montag and husband Dennis of Newell; son Jamie Gailey of Brooklyn, New York; grandsons Andrew and Travis Montag; brothers Mike Whalen and wife Doreen of San Antonio, Texas; Syl Whalen and wife Donna of Eyota, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa Gailey; son Robby Parker; parents Terrance and Marie Whalen; and her brother, Pat Whalen.
Funeral services for Mrs. Parker will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake with interment to follow at Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 16, at Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be designated to the Mercy Heart Center in Sioux City or St. Mark Lutheran Church Storm Lake.
