Kenneth W. Miller, age 90, a longtime farmer from the Storm Lake, Iowa, area, died Monday, October 1, 2007, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, Iowa.
Kenneth William Miller was born September 4, 1917, at Osceola, Iowa, the son of George and Mamie (Claypool) Miller. His early years were spent in the Winterset, Iowa, area before the family moved to Sulphur Springs, Iowa, where Kenneth went to school through the 10th grade.
On December 15, 1940, Kenneth was united in marriage to Maxine C. Hansen. The couple was blessed with three children: Shirley, Karen and Bruce. Kenneth was a dairy farmer his entire adult life until his retirement in 1989. He was a long-time, faithful member of the Church of Christ in Storm Lake where he had served as a deacon. He was a member of the Truesdale Co-op Board of Directors for several years. He enjoyed golf and bowling and took great pleasure in having coffee with his farmer friends. Kenneth’s family was very dear to him and in his later years, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in his heart. He will be missed daily by all those who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Maxine, of Storm Lake; daughter Shirley McCormack and husband Aubrey of Virginia Beach, Virginia; daughter Karen Eickhoff of Spencer; and son Bruce Miller and wife Sandra of Marion, Iowa; grandchildren: Annette Spears and husband Steve, Doug Eickhoff and wife Deon, Brent Miller and wife Jodie, Kyle Miller, Kelly Limbach and husband John, and Shannon McCormack; great-grandchildren: Meghan Spears, Amber Spears, Lakyn Spears, Austin Eickhoff, Jalen Thompkins, Chloe Limbach, Sierra Lynn Roberts, Luke Rutledge, Logan Rutledge and Lawson Rutledge; brother John Miller of Phoenix, Arizona; extended family and many friends.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Russell Miller, Les Miller and Cecil Miller; son-in-law Steve Eickhoff; and grandson Craig Eickhoff.
Services for Mr. Miller are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2007, at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2007, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present.
