Ruth G. Johnson - Nov. 14, 1916 - Oct. 7, 2007

Ruth G. Johnson, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and formerly of Schaller, Iowa, died on Sunday, October 7, 2007, at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Ruth Genevieve Parkinson was born on November 14, 1916, in Lake View, Iowa, to William Henry and Mabel Gladys (Spade) Parkinson. She attended rural schools in Sac County, Iowa.

On March 5, 1939, Ruth was united in marriage to Gustav Johnson in Schaller, Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Carol, Elaine, Kenneth and Roger.

Ruth was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, where she was on the Ladies Aid committee. In addition, Ruth was active in the Clover Club in Schaller and volunteered in the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center’s coffee shop. She enjoyed cooking, baking and watching the Chicago Cubs. Ruth cherished the time she spent with her family and loved to spoil them with her baked goods. She was an avid fan of playing cards and other games as well.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Carol Regennitter of Vancouver, Washington, Elaine Georg and special friend, Don Jamieson of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Roger Johnson and his wife, Kathy of Spencer, Iowa and her daughter-in-law, Peggy Johnson of Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren: Brian Regennitter of LaCenter, Washington, Jennifer Georg of Fort Dodge, Staci (Shawn) Adam of Eldon, Iowa, Brett Georg of Fort Dodge, Scott (Julie) Johnson of Topeka, Kansas, Ryan (Tabitha) Johnson of Topeka, Kansas, Heather Johnson of Chicago, Illinois, Keith Johnson of Odenton, Maryland, Joshua Johnson of Iowa City, Iowa; eight great grandchildren: Emily Regennitter, Ryanna and Tyreese Hill, Alexis and Brodie Adam, Kyleigh Johnson, Andrew and Travis Johnson; and other extended family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gustav; her son, Kenneth; two infant daughters; one great granddaughter, Emma Johnson; sister, Mildred Herbert; brothers: Albert and Clarence Parkinson; and son-in-law Rodney Regenitter.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 11, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Schaller Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call Wednesday, October 10, 2007, from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present.
