Doris G. Potts - Aug. 28, 1925 - Jan. 8, 2007

Doris G. Potts, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Monday, January 8, 2007, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center at Storm Lake.

Doris Geraldine Mallison, the daughter of Harold and Margaret L. (Cone) Mallison, was born on August 28, 1925, at Sac City, Iowa. Doris lived her youth and received her education at Storm Lake. She was united in marriage to Clyde Elmer Potts on September 22, 1946, at Spencer, Iowa, and this union was blessed with seven children: Cynthia, Linda, Dennis, Sharon, Kathy, Carol, and Daniel. Doris was baptized and confirmed in April of 1955 in the United Methodist faith.

Clyde and Doris’ married lifetime was spent in the Storm Lake area where Clyde was employed as a truck driver and mill worker and Doris was a cook at the Storm Lake Community Schools for over 25 years. Doris received great enjoyment from playing Yahtzee, playing cards, watching her television soap operas, and reading. Her family was the focal point of her life and she treasured the times she could spend with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Those who cherish her memory include her children: Dennis and Deb Potts of Denison, Iowa, Daniel and Dee Dee Potts of Algona, Iowa, Sheri and Vern Kowalke of Nemaha, Iowa, Kathy and Mike Nuss of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Carol Sweeten of Webb City, Missouri, 23 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one brother: Robert Mallison of Omaha, Nebraska, one beloved sister: Dorothy Jacobson of Storm Lake, Iowa, sister-in-law: Leona Shaw of Storm Lake, other relatives and many friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clyde, on May 14, 1994, two daughters: Cynthia Hand and Linda Thornhill, her son-in-law: Don Sweeten, 1 brother: Richard Mallison, and one sister: Donna Hogate.

Services for Mrs. Potts will be held Thursday, January 11, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery at Storm Lake, Iowa.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 10, 2007, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake with the family will be present during that time.
