Mary L. Clapp - Dec. 29, 1928 - Dec. 21, 2007

Mary L. Clapp, age 78, of Linn Grove, Iowa, died Friday, December 21, 2007, at the Sioux Care Center in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Mary Louise Bryngelson, the daughter of Elmer and Maggie (Olson) Bryngelson, was born at Linn Grove, Iowa, on December 29, 1928. Mary lived her youth and received her education at Linn Grove, graduating from Linn Grove High School.

She was united in marriage to Dwight Clapp on May 23, 1948. The couple was blessed with four children: Vicki, Michael, Susan, and Cynthia. Following their marriage, Dwight and Mary were engaged in farming six miles northeast of Linn Grove. In 1970, they moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas. While residing there, Mary was employed in a shirt factory and later worked in the food service department of the factory until her retirement in 1991. Dwight died on September 16, 1972. Mary continued to make her home in Mountain Home. She became a resident of the Sioux Care Center on August 3, 2006.

Mary loved life to the fullest and was a very energetic person. She had a compassion for people and served as a volunteer with the Love Circle which provided transportation for people in need. Mary’s special interests included sewing, cooking, painting, gardening, and small animals. Mary had worshipped with the Presbyterian faith in both Linn Grove and while living in Arkansas. She had been a Sunday School teacher and a teacher for the Kingdom Kids for many years. She had a loving relationship with her grandchildren.

Those who will always love and cherish her memory include her children: Vicki and Larry Barglof of Linn Grove, Iowa; Susan Maxwell of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; and Cynthia and Walter Wolf of Mountain Home, Arkansas; five grandchildren: Brett (Carrie) Barglof, Beth Barglof, Jennifer Barglof, Mary Elizabeth Ahrens and Laura Ahrens; two great grandchildren: Bennett and Brenten Barglof; her sister and brother-in-law Donna and Bob Blum of Terril, Iowa; her brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws: Lawrence and Dorothy Rusk and Troy and Betty Clapp, all of Linn Grove, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dwight; her son, Michael, on December 29, 2003; two sisters and three brothers.

Services for Mrs. Clapp will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2007, at Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove, Iowa, with Reverend Russell Westbrook officiating. Burial will be in Barnes Township Cemetery at Linn Grove. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the services.

Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2007, at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids where the family will be present.
