Lorene A. Schuelke - Sept. 18, 1928 - Dec. 26, 2007

Lorene A. Schuelke, age 79, of Storm Lake, Iowa, and formerly of Alta, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 26, 2007, at the Buena Vista Manor Nursing Home in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Lorene A. Radke, the daughter of William and Lena (Hustedt) Radke, was born in Alta, Iowa, on September 18, 1928. Lorene was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hanover. She began her education at St. John’s Lutheran School in Hanover and then completed her education in Alta, graduating from the Alta High School in 1947. Lorene continued her education at a business college in Omaha, Nebraska.

Lorene was united in marriage to Louis Schuelke on February 5, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. To this union two sons were born: Loren and Michael. Following their marriage, Louis and Lorene were engaged in farming near Schaller. Louis died in 1959 and Lorene and her sons moved to Alta where she was employed for many years at the First Trust and Savings Bank. Lorene later worked for Wal Mart until failing health prevented her from working.

Lorene will be deeply missed by children: Loren and Nancy Schuelke of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Michael Schuelke of Alta, Iowa; her two brothers and their wives: Edgar and LaVonne Radke and Marvin and Dorothy Radke, all of Alta, Iowa; two brothers-in-law: Henry Schuelke of Storm Lake, Iowa, and Leo Schuelke of Des Moines, Iowa; her sisters-in-law: Ruth Radke of Alta, Iowa, Marcella Radke of Storm Lake, Iowa, Marian Bennett of Des Moines, Iowa and Verna Kramer of Storm Lake, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers: Harry and Arthur Radke; and two sisters: Verna Sump and Florence Radke.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2007, at 1:30 PM at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Hanover, rural Alta, Iowa. The Sliefert Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
