Gwendolyn Anderson - May 8, 1927 - Feb. 2, 2006

Gwendolyn Anderson, age 78, of Spencer and formerly of Albert City, Iowa, died Thursday, February 2, 2006, at Long House Nursing Home in Spencer, Iowa.

Gwendolyn Luetta Wilner was born on May 8, 1927, in Laurens, Iowa, to Benjamin and Ruth Wilner. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City, was later confirmed there, and has been a lifelong, faithful member of that congregation. Gwendolyn received her education in the Albert City schools, graduation from Albert City High School in 1945.

On June 25, 1948, Gwendolyn was united in marriage to Duane Anderson. Their union was blessed with two sons, Dennis and David and one daughter, Delores. Gwendolyn was a homemaker who loved to keep a warm and comfortable home for her family. In her spare moments, she liked to sew, and enjoyed camping and fishing. She was a loving wife and devoted mother who especially treasured time with her children and grandchildren enjoying family activities. Her caring presence will be missed daily by those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of more than 57 years, Duane Anderson, of Spencer; son Dennis and wife Margaret Anderson of Lawton, Iowa; son David Anderson of Truesdale, Iowa; daughter Delores Anderson of Pheonix, Arizona; grandchildren: Brandon Anderson of Fonda, Iowa; Rebecca Anderson, Benjamin Anderson and Michelle Anderson, all of Lawton, Iowa; as well as extended family and many friends.

Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Ruth Wilner.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 3, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Albert City with Reverend David Bernhardt officiating. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery at Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church.
