John “Jack” Theeler - May 27, 1925 - Apr. 24, 2006

John “Jack” Theeler, age 80, of Linn Grove, Iowa, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Jack was born on May 27, 1925, to Louis and Agnes (Mills) Theeler in Olivia, Minnesota. He moved with his family from Minnesota to two different farms north of Linn Grove before his family purchased their farm southwest of Linn Grove in 1949. He received his education in the Linn Grove school.

During World War II, Jack was in Seattle, Washington, and became a ship welder. He came back to his lifelong occupation of operating the family farm.

On June 19, 1954, Jack was united in marriage to Fay Mowry at the Methodist Church in Marathon, Iowa. Jack and Fay lived on the farm until they moved to town in 1989. In 1991, Jack retired from farming. While he was active in the operation of the farm, his main priority was always the well-being of his livestock, his hogs in particular.

Jack liked to watch television to relax and especially enjoyed watching his favorite programs while eating chocolate stars. During his retirement, he enjoyed riding with Marlin Weier on his daily route with one special event always remembered, the discarding of his pipe over the Little Sioux River bridge.

Jack was a faithful member of Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove where he was baptized in 1961. He and Fay would have celebrated 52 years of happy married life in June of this year. A loving husband, caring brother, treasured uncle and valued friend, Jack will be missed dearly by all those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Fay, of Linn Grove; sister Lucille Carlstrom of St. Paul, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Agnes Theeler, brother-in-law, Russell Carlstrom; and nephew David Carlstrom.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2006, at the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove, Iowa, with Pastor Russ Westbrook officiating. Burial will be in the Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove. Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids where the family will be present.
