Joseph Nattress, a former resident of Storm Lake, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Allie Cox, in Alta Vista, February 7, at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 20 days.

Mr. Nattress had been in his usual good health up until two days before his death. His condition became steadily worse and he passed peacefully away Tuesday evening.

He was the son of Jacob and Margaret Nattress and was born in Shullsburg, Wis., May 17 1851. He moved with his parents to Gratiot, Wis., where he spent his early childhood and young manhood.

He was married to Anna R. Smith at Apple River, Ill., and to this union four children were born; two daughters and two sons. On November 18, 1894, his wife passed away.

In 1895 he came with his family to Buena Vista county and located in Storm Lake. He conducted a hardware store for many years in this city. On August 22, 1900, he was united in marriage to Cora R. Bethards, who passed to her reward in October, 1925.

Mr. Nattress was one of Storm Lake's highly respected citizens. he became a member of the Methodist church when a boy and has always been a faithful servant.

He is survived by his four children, Robert E. of Mobile, Ala., Clarabel Cox of Alta, Nina Colbath of San Francisco, Cal., and Charles W., of Oneida, S.D., besides other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Storm Lake Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Rev O.M. Bond officiating.
