Kathelyn D. Harrington - Oct. 7, 1920 - July 12, 2005

Kathelyn D. “Kate” Harrington, age 84, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Kate was born October 7, 1920, in Lake Mills, Iowa, to Nick and Irene (Nelson) Deneson. She was baptized in the Methodist Church in Lake Mills. She received her education at various different schools in Iowa.

On October 12, 1940, Kate was united in marriage to Edward Harrington in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with five children: Marida, Evelyn, Lance, Robert and Nicki.

Kate was a homemaker in addition to holding jobs outside the home as a waitress at the Ellis Café and Lake Café, and she also worked at Vilas and Company and Bil-Mar plants in Storm Lake. She enjoyed working in her garden and canning the harvest. She liked mowing her lawn and took pleasure in watching the family pets, Chance, Josie and Willa, running and playing in the yard. Most of all, Kate loved her family and friends, and treasured the time she spent with them.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Evelyn Flowers of Storm Lake, Lance Harrington and wife Kathy of Storm Lake, Robert Harrington and wife Sharon of Rembrandt, Iowa, and Nicki Harrington-Sheplear and husband Jim of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Robert Karr, Chris Cooper, Scott Davis, Angela Lance, Shane Brock, Mike Brock, Rodney Brock, Jason Flowers, Tony Bragg, Hank Harrington, Russell Harrington, Brenda Heilstedt, Tracy Harrington, Heather Harrington, Rich Harrington, Bret Harrington, Justin Harrington and Michele Harrington; great-grandchildren: Brandi, Jordan, Codi, Kenley, Felicity, Josh, Kayla, Chloe, Emma, Tristan, Dylan, Colton, Todd, Joey, Samantha, Alyssa, Taylor, Ashley, Tyler, Cheyenne, Jaimie, Jake, Tony and Alex; her brother, Paul Deneson and wife Bonnie of Johnston, Iowa; sisters: Chrisoula Fiers of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Ourania Bowen of Pennsicola, Florida, Anastasia Short of Norwalk, Iowa, and Ruth Lee of Osceloa, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

Kate was preceded in death by her parents, Nick and Irene Deneson; her husband, Edward; daughter Marida Davis-Karr; infant sons, John Andrew, Michael Lee and William Tyler; grandson Todd Davis; sister Eugenia Schaeffer, brother Nicholas Deneson; and son-in-law Joe Davis.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake with Reverend Jack Barber officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

Friends may call Friday, July 15, 2005, from 4:00 til 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present.
