Ethel M. Prescott, age 94, of Omaha, Nebraska, and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Saturday, November 12, 2005, at Comfort Care in Omaha.
Ethel Marie Rupert was born on November 7, 1911, in Bloomfield, Nebraska, to William J. and Elizabeth (Semlier) Rupert. She lived with her family in Bloomfield, Nebraska, where she attended and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1929. Her education was furthered at Iowa State University in Ames, receiving her degree in Home Economics in 1933.
On February 15, 1936, Ethel was united in marriage to Dr. Kenneth Prescott in Rockport, Missouri. To this union, two sons were born, Steven and Charles. The Prescott family lived in Los Angeles, California, before moving to Rockport, Missouri, and to Mountain Home, Tennessee. In 1947, Ethel and Kenneth settled in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was a loving mother and proud homemaker.
Ethel was a member of the Storm Lake United Methodist Church. She loved gardening and spending time outdoors. Her passion for the outdoors was evident by the love she had for the birds and squirrels. Spending time with her family as a mother and grandmother was especially important to Ethel. Homemaking was a true talent of Ethel’s, as she was a wonderful cook and hostess.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Steven Prescott of Las Cruses, New Mexico, and Charles Prescott and his wife Wanda of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Christine Jacobsen and Nicholas Prescott and two great grandchildren, Hannah Jacobsen and Elise Prescott, all of Omaha, Nebraska; and extended family and friends.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dr. Kenneth Prescott (1992).
Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at 11:30 am at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
