Margaret Mae Cook, age 89, of Schaller, Iowa, died Friday, December 16, 2005, at Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center in Odebolt, Iowa.

Margaret Mae Saathoff was born February 14, 1916, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to George and Maude (Dragoo) Saathoff. She was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Margaret attended country school and graduated from high school at Hayes Consolidated School with the Class of 1935.

On June 8, 1938, Margaret was united in marriage to Harold Cook in Sioux City, Iowa. They were blessed with three children: Wayne, Dennis and Mavis.

Margaret was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Schaller where she also held membership in the church Women’s Circle.

Margaret was a homemaker, but she enjoyed working outside on the farm also. She was a loving wife and devoted mother who treasured her family. In her later years, her grandchildren brought her great joy. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Wayne (Connie) Cook of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Dennis (Ilene) Cook of Schaller; her daughter, Mavis (Tim) Rusk of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren: Kevin (Beatriz) Cook of Maumelle, Arkansas, David (Melissa) Cook of Fort Dodge, Iowa, William Cook of Beaufort, South Carolina, Justin Cook and Kayla Rusk, both of Sioux City, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Augusta Cook and Darylinn Cook; one sister, Lucile Christensen of Gilmore City, Iowa; two sisters-in-law: LaVerna Saathoff-Meyer and Mildred Saathoff; and many other relatives and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; and two brothers: Clayton Saathoff and G. Allen Saathoff.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at 11:00 am at the Presbyterian Church in Schaller with Reverend Marvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Schaller Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Schaller is in charge of the arrangements.
