Gerry G. Watts - Oct. 23, 1932 - Feb. 7, 2010

Gerry G. Watts – age 77, of Marathon, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010, at the Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas.
Gerald Gene Watts was born October 23, 1932, near Marathon, Iowa. He was the son of Virgil and Pearl (Crone) Watts. He attended Pickeral Lake country school and graduated from Marathon High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army from January of 1953 until October of 1954. On February 12, 1956, Gerry married Lavonne Morris at Spencer, Iowa. The couple settled on the family farm near Marathon. Gerry retired from farming in 1994. In his retirement years he continued to help Bill on the farm.

Gerry was a member of the American Legion and Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club. He loved to go hunting and fishing and he loved to dance. He also enjoyed attending music jams.

Survivors include his wife, Lavonne of Marathon; daughters, Kathy (Don) McGregor of Swea City and Julie Nordlund of Latimer; son, Bill (Tammy) Watts of Marathon; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters and a sister, Maxine Studelska of Phoenix, AZ.

Gerry was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Verda Belle Gunnerson.
