On December 28, 1940, Iona was united in marriage to Forrest Henry Hausman in Alta. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Mary.

Iona was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. She was baptized on August 8, 1918, in Hanover and later confirmed on November 8, 1936, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta. Iona, or “Tiny” as she was known to her family, was a floral designer by trade. She enjoyed gardening, handiwork, baking pies for the B.V. County Fair and was especially fond of spending time with her family. Iona was a great card player. She had time for anyone in need and always put others first.
