Peggy Jensen - Jan. 23, 1951 - Aug. 16, 2004

Peggy Lynn (Morehead) Jensen, 53, of Kansas City, Kan., formerly of Sioux City, was called home by her heavenly father at her residence on Monday, Aug. 16, 2004.

Peggy was born Jan. 23, 1951, in Sioux City, to James and Marian Morehead. She graduated from Central High School in 1969 and received a degree in nursing from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Sioux City in 1972.

She married Ronald E. Jensen on Sept. 2, 1972, and moved to Washington D.C. where she worked at George Washington University Hospital. They later moved to Ames, Iowa, where she worked at Mary Greeley Hospital. They then moved to Kansas City where they have lived since 1977.

She was active in the development of the Hospital Christian Fellowship of Kansas City and was on the site councils for West Middle School and Summer Academy. She loved her work at church where she was a member and pioneer of the Hispanic bilingual ministry at Grace Lutheran Church and Our Savior Lutheran Church. She also was the president of Mount View Neighborhood Association.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Ronald E. Jensen; two beautiful daughters, Elizabeth of Topeka, Kan., and Kathryn of Kansas City; her parents, James and Marian Morehead of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, James Jr. and Lois Morehead of Hinton, Iowa; a sister and her husband, Victoria and the Rev. David Bott of Jackson Hole, Wyo.; her parents-in-law, Elmer and Marjorie Jensen of Newell, Iowa; a brother-in-law and his wife, Larry and Donita Jensen of Waterloo, Iowa; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who love her very much.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; several aunts, uncles and a brother-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church For Hispanic bilingual ministry or the Kansas City Hospice.

Services were held Thursday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Kansas City, KS. Local services will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Sioux City followed by Graveside services in Newell Cemetery, Newell, Iowa. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Local arrangements are by Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell.
