Darlene Dorothy Phebus, 74, Scottsdale, Ariz., and formerly of Alta, passed away at a Scottsdale Hospital on Dec. 21, 2009.

Darlene, daughter of Alfred and Hilda (Libke) Peterson, was born on July 10, 1935, at Alta. She graduated from Alta High School in 1953.

On Sept. 3, 1965, she married John Phebus in Scottsdale, Ariz., where they continued to make their home. This union was blessed with one son, Mitchell and a grandson, Devin. John and Darlene were involved in the raising of their grandson Devin, who made his home with them.

Darlene was employed in Scottsdale until her retirement. She loved antiques and had many interesting collections. She was also an avid collector of teddy bears.

She is survived by her husband John; son Mitchell and grandson Devin Phebus of Arizona; three stepsons: John, Mike and Mark Phebus and their families. She is also survived by her brother Harold Peterson and wife Beverly, Alta; sister Marjorie Hawke, Alta; sister in-law Janice Peterson, Greenville; nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brother LaVerne Peterson; brother in-law Melvin Hawke; two nieces: Kathy Fahr and Gayle Carter.

Darlene donated her body to science and burial will occur at a later date.
