Geraldine Dahlen - Jan. 14, 1926 - Dec. 31, 2004

Geraldine Ellen “Jerry” Lawrence Dahlen, age 78, of Lakeside, Iowa, died on December 31, 2004, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Geraldine Ellen Jennett was born January 14, 1926, in Sac City, Iowa, to Alva and Ruth (Irwin) Jennett. She lived with her family in Sac City where she attended Sac City Schools and graduated from Sac City High School in 1944. Jerry enrolled in the University of Minnesota and graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education.

In 1949, Jerry married Willard “J.R.” Lawrence. They were blessed with two children, Douglas Clair in 1957 and Jacklyn Ruth in 1959. On January 15, 1983, she was united in marriage to John Dahlen.

As a child, Jerry was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist Church in Sac City. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake.

Jerry was the proud owner and operator of the Cobblestone Inn of Storm Lake until her retirement on November 9, 1986. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and enjoyed traveling, dancing, entertaining family, attending Bridge Clubs and playing the piano for her family. Her family was most important to her.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, John Dahlen of Lakeside; sons Douglas Lawrence and wife Ann of Whiting and Jack Dahlen of Big Lake, Minnesota; daughters Eileen Hawkinson of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Mary Dahlen of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Jacklyn Summers and husband Daniel of Urbandale and Sara Edwards and husband Craig of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; grandchildren: Blair Hawkinson, Chris, Missy, Nate and R.D. Summers, Nicole, Andrea and Chelsea Edwards, Christina and John John Dahlen, Erin and Casey Lillie; brothers John (Jack) Jennett and wife Myrna, Paul Jennett and wife Barb; sisters-in-law: Sally Jennett, Celeste Jennett and Margie Jennett: as well as other extended family members and friends.

Preceding Jerry in death are her parents; her first husband, Willard “J.R.” Lawrence; and brothers: Russell Jennett, Clair Jennett, and Patrick Jennett.

Memorials in Jerry’s honor may be given to: Anne Carlsen Center for Children.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Storm Lake United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the services.

Visitation will be on Monday, January 3, 2005, from 4-8:00 pm at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present to greet friends from 6-8:00 pm.
