Everett F. Neppl - Jan. 21, 1914 - Mar. 1, 2003

Everett F. Neppl, age 89, of Storm Lake died March 1, 2003, at the Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.

Everett was born in Carroll County, Iowa, on January 21, 1914, to Henry and Lena (Pietig) Neppl. He lived with his parents on a farm in Willey, Iowa. Everett attended the parochial Catholic School in Carroll.

In 1938, Everett married Leota Otto at Mt. Carmel, Iowa. To this union, five children were born. They lived and farmed in Carroll County for 12 years and in the Fonda area for over 30 years. Everett loved farming and family and playing cards with his many friends. After retiring in 1980, he and Leota moved to Storm Lake. They enjoyed traveling until Everett’s health declined.

Everett was baptized and confirmed in the Willey Catholic Church in Willey, Iowa. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Fonda where he was an active KC member. He later became a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Leota of Storm Lake; sons: James Neppl and wife Diane of Rock Island, Illinois, and Roger Neppl and wife Jennifer of Evergreen, Colorado; daughters: Kay Sterbick of Des Moines, and Diane Baskerville and husband Roger of Washington, Kansas; brothers: Leo Neppl and wife Dorothy of Iowa City, Don Neppl and wife Mildred of Sarasota, Florida, and Earl Neppl of Gardendale, Alabama; sister, Lois Grote and husband Elmer of Breda; sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and other extended family and friends.

Preceding Everett in death are his parents; son, Gary Neppl; and siblings: Wilbur, Elmer, Helen Sanders, Gene, Arthur, and Myron.

Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Storm Lake with the Reverend Douglas Klein officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Catholic Cemetery in Fonda.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, with a Legion of Mary Rosary at 3:30 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m.
