Houmphanh Phosy - Mar. 2, 1932 - July 31, 2003

Houmphanh Phosy, age 71, of Storm Lake died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Houmphanh Phosy was born on March 2, 1932, in Xayabory, Laos. During his stay in Laos, he had a difficult childhood as he was an orphan. However, Mr. Phosy was not distracted by those obstacles from pursuing his dreams.

At the age of 18, he served in the army and also in the Vietnam War, helping the Americans. In 1959, he was married to Pat Phosy, and they had five children together. Because he aided the Americans, he and his family had a legal right to come to the U. S. and become U.S. citizens. This was where he started his new life.

On September 11, 1987, he and his family moved to the U. S. A. Living in the United States without knowing English did not discourage him from making the best for his family. He was a wonderful husband and father. His hard work paid off, and he retired in 2002. On June 3, 2003, he became very ill from cancer and finally came to rest in peace on July 31, 2003, at 1:50 p.m.

Mr. Phosy is survived by his wife and his five children.

Rites for Houmphanh Phosy will be Saturday, August 2, at 11:30 a.m. at the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake with the Fratzke and Jensen Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
