Franklin C. “Frank” Morse - July 28, 1925 - Sept. 13, 2003

Franklin C. “Frank” Morse, age 78, of Storm Lake died on Saturday, September 13, 2003, at the Good Samaritan Center in Newell, Iowa.

Franklin Morse was born on July 28, 1925, in Grant Township northeast of Storm Lake, Iowa, to Warren and Georgia (Williams) Morse. He was baptized in Storm Lake. Frank lived with his parents on their farm northeast of Storm Lake while growing up and attended Grant Township rural school.

On June 2, 1951, Frank was united in marriage with Vera J. Momsen in South Sioux City, Nebraska. Two sons and a daughter blessed this union.

Frank worked for Storm Lake Lumber, the Illinois Central Railroad and the City of Newell. He was a loving husband, father and step-father who cherished the time he spent with his family. His family remembers him as a special man who will always be in their hearts. He will be missed.

Frank is survived by his wife, Vera, of Storm Lake; sons Calvin and wife Jennifer Morse of Aurelia, and Douglas Morse of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Linda Medsker of Rembrandt; step-daughters Judy and husband Richard Hartsell of Early, Mary Lou and husband Ferrell Lee Sirovy of Ruthven, and Virginia and husband Keith Dobler of Glenwood; grandchildren Kari, Jessica and Cody Medsker, Jenika Stamer, Ashley Morse, Emily Morse, and Michael, Vicki and Desiree Morse; step-grandchildren Becky Riedesel, Jacob Hartsell, Amanda Weber, Brenda Bjorum, Farrell Wayne and Brett Sirovy, Wendy Mooney, and Nancy Dobler; great-grandchildren Brendon Sullivan and Olivia Stamer; step-great-grandchildren Donald and Faith Riedesel, J.j. and Justin Weber, Courtney Sirovy and Sean Dobler; brother Mervin and wife Donna Morse of Odebolt; sisters Lois and husband Gerhardt Gutz of Storm Lake, Arlene Petersen of Newell, and Jean and husband Ray Hahn of Riverton, WY.

Mr. Morse was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Norton and Ivan; brothers-in-law Aaron Buchholz, Ralph Petersen, Bernard Oakland and Ronald Momsen; sister-in-law Arlene Oakland; and step-great-grandchild Brianna Bjorum.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at the Storm Lake United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Beverlee Bell and Reverend Jamie Cutler officiating. Burial will be in the Ferguson Cemetery at Lake View.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will greet relatives and friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
