Lydia Amalia Helene Friedrich was born October 6, 1906, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, to Reverend Max and Marie (Albrecht) Friedrich. She was baptized on October 21, 1906. When she was three weeks old, her father received a call from St. John’s congregation in Fairville, Iowa, which he accepted and moved his family there.
Lydia attended parochial school, taught by her father, until she was confirmed on May 25, 1919, by her father. On April 27, 1927, Lydia was united in marriage to Gus Dallman in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Two children blessed their union: Evelyn and Delores.
