Franklin F. Phelps - Sept. 24, 1953 - June 26, 2005

Franklin F. “Frank” Phelps, age 51, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died Sunday, June 26, 2005 at his home.

Franklin Forrest Phelps was born September 24, 1953 in Spencer, Iowa to Loren Leo and Ruby Elizabeth (Marble) Phelps. He was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Royal, Iowa and later confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He currently attended the Methodist Church.

Frank lived with his parents in Royal during his early years, attending kindergarten through sixth grades there. After the family moved to Sioux Rapids, Frank attended school there.

On April 18, 1975, Frank was united in marriage to Pearl Jolene White in Sioux Rapids. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Jessica Jo and Lori Lynn.

Frank was employed as a heavy equipment operator and in construction work most of his life. He worked for Miller Tiling & Excavating, Rohlin Construction, Caskey Farm Drainage and Heinshon Digging, Tiling & Excavation.

Frank enjoyed the outdoors and liked to go fishing and trapping. He also enjoyed gardening, wood carving and tattooing. Above all, Frank was a devoted father and husband who loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jolene of Sioux Rapids; daughters: Jessica Jo and husband Garret Noll of Sioux Rapids and Lori Lynn and husband Michael Strand of Sioux Rapids; grandchildren: Cody, Kayla and Kimberlee Strand, and Harli, Hayley, Brady and Hannah Noll; brothers: Ronald and wife Maureen Phelps and children Chris and Candi of Alta, Iowa, Dennis and wife JoAnn Phelps and children Samantha and Sara of Schaller, Iowa, and John Phelps of Ayers, Massachusetts; sister Janet Mullenburg of Spencer, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Ruby Phelps; his grandparents; and his father-in-law, Elwin White.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home Chapel in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery at Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2005 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids, where the family will be present.
