Frances M. Chindlund - June 26, 1917 - July 30, 2005
Frances Mildred Langner Chindlund, age 88, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died Saturday, July 30, 2005 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Frances was born June 26, 1917 to Fred H. and Martha (Hintz) Langner in Terrill, Iowa. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Terrill on July 29, 1917. She was confirmed at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa on July 5, 1931.
Frances received her entire education in the Storm Lake Public School system, graduating with the Class of 1934.
On December 22, 1935 she married Conrad Chindlund. To this union, two children were born: Phyllis Rehnstrom and Ronald Chindlund.
In 1969, she married Verne Chindlund in Watertown, South Dakota. They made their home in Minnesota, living in St. Paul for seven years. Upon Verne’s retirement, they moved to 40 acres outside of Pine River, Minnesota, where they lived for 16 years. Here they raised many flowers and trees and enjoyed the lakes and woods. When Verne’s health started to fail, they moved to Sioux Rapids, Iowa on December 1, 1989.
Frances was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of First Lutheran Church and a member of the WELCA.
She leaves to mourn her beloved children: Phyllis and Merrill Rehnstrom and Ron and Annabelle Chindlund; two step-children K.V. and Jan Chindlund and Karen and Fred Vaas; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister-in-law Erma Chindlund of Long Beach, California; many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; two sisters: Gladys Frantz and Florence Schuler; and her beloved grandson, Scott Wade Chindlund.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, with Pastor Tonna Parsons officiating. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2005 at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. There will also be visitation one hour prior to service time at the funeral home on Tuesday.
