Beverly J. Brauhn, age 65, of Linn Gove, Iowa, died Sunday, September 18, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Beverly Jane Richter was born May 26, 1940 to Leo and Gertrude (Attig) Richter at Algona, Iowa. She received her education in the Titonka school system, graduating from Titonka High School with the Class of 1958. Beverly continued her education at the former Iowa Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa, now the University of Northern Iowa. She graduated in 1962 and spent many years as an educator and teacher in a number of different cities and school systems: Ames, Iowa; Corning, Arkansas; Marion, Alabama; Muscatine, Iowa; Columbia, Missouri; Spearfish, South Dakota; and Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Her final teaching position was with the Sioux Central Community Schools, where she taught for over 10 years.
On August 11, 1963, Beverly was united in marriage to James Brauhn at the Titonka Methodist Church. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Marc and Steve.
Beverly was a loving wife and devoted mother whose family always came first in her life. She also enjoyed flowers, reading, the outdoors and hiking. She was a faithful and active member of the Methodist Church and P.E.O.
Survivors include her husband, James, of Linn Grove; mother Gertrude Richter of Titonka, Iowa; sons Marc of Ocheyden, Iowa and Steve of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; special friend Rish of Sioux Rapids; other extended family and a host of friends.
Beverly was preceded in death by her father, Leo Richter.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove, with Pastor Emily Allen officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Township Cemetery at Titonka, Iowa. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids, where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00.
