Mildred “Millie” Ingram, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa died on Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Storm Lake.

Mildred Rachel Challand was born to Clarence and Fannie May (Paul) Challand on March 2, 1917 in Eston, Saskatchewan, Canada. She lived in Eston until 1921 before moving to rural Lake City, Iowa in the United States. In 1931 she moved to rural Fonda, Iowa, where she attended high school and graduated from Fonda High in 1935.

On November 9, 1940, Millie married Lonney Ingram in Fort Dodge, Iowa. They were blessed with four children: David, Steven, Raymond and Ann. Millie was a loving wife and devoted mother who took great pleasure in keeping a warm and comfortable home for the family she treasured. She also spent a number of years working as a waitress at the Ken-A-Bob Buffet in Storm Lake, as well as holding employment at several other places of business.

Millie enjoyed flowers in all forms and found the world to be a beautiful place. She once wrote, “I loved to travel and in younger years went to Europe (many countries), Russia, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, Japan, Okinawa, Taiwan, Thailand, all over the United States and Canada. What a great world that God created for us!” Millie’s gentle presence will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her son David Ingram of Juneau, Alaska; son Steve Ingram of Eagle Grove, Iowa; daughter Ann Lewis of Storm Lake; sister Florence Endersbe of Laurens, Iowa; sister Mary Shaffer of Cook Nebraska; sister Delores Street of Bellevue, Nebraska; grandchildren: Amanda Lewis of Spencer, Iowa and Skyler Ingram of Eagle Grove, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Raymond, grandson Lonney and two sisters: Ruth Carlson and Alta Pauk.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Alta, Iowa, with Reverend Rick Bender officiating. Burial will be in the Laurens Cemetery in Laurens, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake.
