Merry J. Haraldson - Apr. 5, 1959 - Sept. 4, 2009

Merry J. Haraldson, age 50, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Friday, September 4, 2009, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Merry Jane Hallengren was born April 5, 1959, to Norris Alfred and Phyllis Jean (Spooner) Hallengren in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was raised in the Storm Lake area with her six sisters. She attended school at Storm Lake Community Schools and then later worked in food service: cooking and bartending.

In 1977, Merry was united in marriage to Charlie Weier at the Assembly of God Church in Storm Lake. Later, she was married to David Haraldson in December of 1996.

Merry enjoyed her family and looked forward to spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. In her spare time, she liked to go camping and fishing. Merry never grew tired of playing with her dog, Sophie.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Elizabeth (Nick) Hesselman of Storm Lake; Michelle Carey of Cherokee, Iowa; Charles (Josie) Weier of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren: Alexander, Caitlyn, Allyson, Victoria and Richard; her mother, Phyllis Toiberg of Rembrandt, Iowa; her sisters: Sherille Elliott of Storm Lake; Carol (Fred) Anderson of Storm Lake; Patty (Dennis) Weiland of Sioux Rapids; Nora (Terry) Suter of Palmyra, Missouri; Sandy Sorensen (friend, Terry Smith) of Storm Lake; and Kim Hickman of Rembrandt; her special friend David Schwanz: extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Norris Hallengren; niece, Tammy Geiest; and stepfather, Jack Toiberg.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. Friends may greet the family Monday from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
