Ire Jensen - Feb. 5, 1913 - May 18, 2009

Ire Jensen, age 96, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at Buena Vista Manor Care Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Ire Jensen was born February 5, 1913 in Superior, Nebraska, the son of Thomas C. and Angelika (Peterson) Jensen. He received his education in Superior.

Ire was baptized on April 27, 1913 and later received his Adult Instruction in 1947.

He entered the United States Army on August 2, 1942 serving until he was honorably discharged on July 3, 1943.

On December 3, 1942, Ire married Ruth Roggow. The couple was blessed with two children, Larry and Robert. In 1984, Ire’s beloved wife Ruth passed away. He later married Dorothea Wilson in 1985, in Spirit Lake, Iowa.

After moving to Iowa in 1939, Ire became a lifelong farmer who loved John Deere equipment. Once he retired in the early 1970’s he moved to Storm Lake and worked for Hultgren Implement Inc. Ire treasured spending time with his family and grandchildren and enjoyed going to family reunions in Minnesota. He loved being able to talk with people and had a passion for fishing.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Larry and Diane Jensen of Starbuck, Minnesota; his grandchildren; Michael, Matthew, Aaron, and Kelly; his step grandchildren: Kyle, Kurt, and Amy; his ten great grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Ire was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. and Angelika Jensen; his son, Robert Jensen; his two wives: Ruth and Dorothea; and his sisters: Norma (Albert) Peterson and Esther (Harold) Jensen.

Memorial services for Mr. Jensen will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Scandinavian Cemetery in Alta, Iowa. The Sliefert Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2009, prior to the service, at the church.
