Sally Warne, age 92, of Storm Lake, Iowa died July 27, 2009 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.Sally Arleen Daniels was born on April 11, 1917, the daughter of Glen and Louise (Claussen) Daniels in Cushing, Iowa.
She attended high school in Humboldt, South Dakota graduating in 1934. Sally continued her education at Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she earned a Nursing Certificate. In 1970, she attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa where she earned a Certificate in Nursing Home Administration.
On February 2, 1936, Sally was united in marriage to Harry Warne in Jackson, Minnesota. This couple was blessed with one child, Sandra.
Sally belonged to the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. She helped start the first “Head Start” Program in Buena Vista County in the late 1960’s. She was a Northwest Iowa District Representative for AARP. As a volunteer, Sally worked for the Spencer Municipal Hospital booth at the Clay County Fair in Spencer, Iowa for several seasons. Sally was the Administrator of the Carroll Manor in Carroll, Iowa from 1970 to 1980. In the late 1980’s, she worked at the YMCA of the Rockies in Vail, Colorado. She enjoyed being involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sandra (Don) Swanson of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Angela (Chris) Archacki of Cleveland, Ohio, Steven Swanson of Lakeside, Iowa and Tracy (Tom) Mork of Storm Lake; her great grandchildren; Adam, Bailey, Casey and Sean Archacki, Bryce Husske, Alissa Swanson, Camryn and Keaton Mork; several nieces and nephews; extended family and many friends.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Warne; her parents, Glen and Louise Daniels; 3 older sisters; Margaret, Kathleen and Lois and her older brother Welton.
