Harvey Koth, age 91, Alta, passed away on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at the Sunset Knoll Nursing and Rehab Center of Aurelia. A funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church of Alta with Rev. John H. Schmidt officiating. Burial was at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery of Alta. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta assisted the family with arrangements.

Harvey Henry John Koth was born Jan. 8, 1918 in rural Hanover to parents Henry and Christine Koth. He was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. John's Lutheran Church of Hanover. He held various church offices and was an active member of the Lutheran Laymen's League.

He married Lydia Langhans on Sept. 7, 1940. They were blessed with four children, Paul, Ruth, David and Lois. They resided together for 68 years on the Koth family farm just east of Alta.

Harvey enjoyed a full 91 years of life and was taken to his eternal home in Heaven on Nov. 13, 2009 leaving his family and friends to cherish his memory. Survivors include his children, Paul and wife Donna Koth who reside in rural Alta, David Koth of Alta, and Lois and husband Lynn Theesfield of Ames; five grandchildren, Leah and husband Sam of Ankeny, Michael of Alta, Matthew of Alta, Gretchen and Charles of Ames, and one great-grandchild Aubrie of Ankeny.

He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents and a daughter, Ruth.
