Phyllis A. Frederickson was born on May 20, 1924 near Alta, the daughter of Hubert and Nina (Smith) Frederickson. Phyllis's mother passed away when Phyllis was very young and from that time forward Phyllis was raised by her grandparents. Phyllis graduated from Alta High School with the class of 1942.

She worked in the dentist office of Dr. Swanson, DDS, of Alta; she also worked as a secretary for Attorney Ross Hutton of Alta for many years. Phyllis loved babysitting for several families in Alta.

She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church of Alta; where she was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Susannah Wesley Circle. She sold dish clothes, greeting cards and napkins as fund raisers for many years using all the proceeds for mission works. Phyllis was a thoughtful, kind and generous person who remembered many people on their special days with cards or gifts. She would take a single flower to almost every funeral held in Alta for many years.

At the quasicentennial, she was crowned queen of the community. She was thrilled and honored to receive this commendation. Phyllis loved the Alta Community. She would be seen picking up trash and litter after football games and all over town.

Phyllis was an avid reader. She subscribed to the local paper and would read them from cover to cover. She would clip, copy and save many of the articles, hoping to eventually share them with others. Phyllis had a wonderful memory. She was able to tell you who was related to whom for two or three generations back. She seemed to know everyone in our community. Alta has lost a wonderful friend and source of history.

Survivors left to cherish her memory are her brother, Robert Dwayne Frederickson, Louisville, Neb.; four nephews, two nieces, many great nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Phyllis in death are her parents; grandparents; and a brother, Donavon Frederickson.
