Mrs. George M. Pedersen September 1967 Storm Lake Pilot - Jennie Anne Pedersen was born at Racine, Wisconsin, on March 4, 1876, the daughter of Lydia and Sophus M Jacobsen. Her youth was spent in Racine and she received her education in the public schools and business college at Racine. She was one of four children in this family. Her parents and brother and sisters preceded her in death by several years.
She passed away Monday evening, September 4, 1967 at the Methodist Manor in Storm Lake, at the age of 91 years and 6 months.
United in Marriage
On April 16, 1902, she was united in marriage to George M. Pedersen, a pharmacist of Harlan, Iowa, where they made their first home. They spent the summer of 1906 traveling in Europe and in January of 1907, they moved to Storm Lake, where Mr. Pedersen again engaged in the drug business. There is one son in the Pedersen family, Milo, of Storm Lake.Church Membership
Mrs. Pedersen had been a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church for many years. She was active in Red Cross since World War I holding the office of Chapter Chairman at that time, and then as secretary until 1961. She worked with Buena Vista County Tuberculosis and Health Association since 1946, was a charter member and first President of the Woman's Club, and a member of the Progressive Study Club. She was chairman of the radio program of Tuberculosis and Health in BV County.Services
Funeral services were held in the Hughes-Nelson funeral home with Rev. Robert Boell officiating. Vocalist, Mrs. Vincent Mullane sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "Abide with Me", accompanied at the organ by Mrs. George Coulson.Attendants were Wyatt Yon, Jr., Jack Spooner, Basil Deegan, Robert Ohrlund, Forrest Hausman, and Ellis Stern. She was laid to rest on September 8 in the Storm Lake cemetery at the side of her husband who passed away in 1939.
Those left who mourn her passing are a son, Milo and his wife three grandchildren; Georgea, Michael, and Carolyn; one great- grandchild, Jenni; Mrs. Loretta Jones of Storm Lake and children, also W L Mau and wife and family of Paullina; several nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
