Storm Lake friends were saddened at the death of George M. Pedersen, who passed away at his home, 111 West Second Street (correct address is 111 W First St.), April 2, 1939 (Wednesday night) about 8 o'clock.Mr. Pedersen, well known resident of Storm Lake for 32 years, had been bedfast for the past five months. His decline the last few weeks had been rapid.
George Pedersen, the youngest of five brothers, was born in Sonderburg, Schleswig, Denmark, on July 22, 1867. He was the son of Christian Pedersen and Anna Moeller. He lived there until he was 19 years old and then came to the United States to join two brothers. He settled at Harlan, Iowa.
Mr. Pedersen attended Highland Park college, Des Moines, where he became a registered pharmacist. He then operated a drug store at Harlan. On April 16, 1902, he was married to Miss Jennie Jacobsen of Racine, Wisconsin. To their union one son, Milo, was born. They made their home in Harlan until they sold the store in 1906.
After spending several months in Europe, Mr. and Mrs. Pedersen moved to Storm Lake where the former opened a drug store. He conducted this business for more than 10 years. Several years ago Mr. Pedersen entered the insurance and real estate business. Mr. Pedersen was past president of the Iowa Pharmaceutical association. He was elected to office in 1905.
Besides his bereaved wife and son, Mr. Pedersen is survived by three brothers. They are: Hendrick of Copenhagen, Denmark; Ludwug of Walnut and Will of Winter Haven, Florida. His parents and eldest brother, Hans, preceded his in death.
